Donna is the owner and founder of Valley Language Services, LLC (VLS) based in Columbus, Georgia. Trained at the University of Bologna, her expertise is primarily in business translation; however, she is also a sought-after instructor of corporate and law enforcement training.
Her diverse background is a major asset to VLS. She lived in 4 countries and gained fluency in 7 different languages before the age of 18. Through her network of skilled and certified interpreters and translators, VLS now offers 26 languages, primarily Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, Italian, Korean, and Arabic.

ABOUT VLS
Since its inception in September 1996, VLS has been licensed and operating in the Chattahoochee Valley area. Owner and founder Donna Carter first moved to Columbus, Georgia to work with the 1996 Olympic Games as the Language Services Manager for the Softball and Sailing Venues and was responsible for locating, testing, and training volunteer interpreters for the games.
While undertaking this endeavor, Ms. Carter uncovered an incredible resource for language competencies in the Columbus area, and Valley Language Services, LLC was born. Many of those intial volunteers have become trained translators and interpreters and have developed into a phenomenal local resource for industry and the military in the Columbus area.
By maintaing membership in the American Council for the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL), Ms. Carter utilizes their process for court interpreters to evaluate subcontractors in the VLS family. Many VLS interpreters and translators are retired military and hold military clearances of varying levels.
In recent years the company has expanded greatly into the area of on-site training. This decision was affected by the repercussions of 9/11 which created the need for foreign language training over many sectors of the community (i.e. hospitals, police, fire departments, etc.). VLS provides translation on retainer to several large companies, medical institutions, and military such as BellSouth via Sage Group, medical sub specialty group conferences, and foreign military language training to the Colombian Police, Peruvian Air Force, Polish Air Force, Panamanian Police, Army of the Dominican Republic, Army of Dubai, and National Police of Iraq. VLS also provides interpreters for some medical mission teams throughout the hemisphere.
